Well, we guess it’s finally time to meet the people behind OBJEKTIVKA.
It all started as a hobby during high school. Ivana got her first DSLR camera as a gift for good grades and immediately fell in love with it. That wasn’t much of a surprise because she had an artistic background since early childhood. Her days were always packed with various activities, such as music school and dance classes. Even with a very busy schedule, she was always the photographer on her friends’ birthday parties, school events and family functions voluntarily capturing those memories forever.
The next step was, of course, opening an Instagram account to showcase the photography that she was very proud of. As time passed and she grew into the purpose of Croatian photography, the content started shifting from amateur attempts to interesting storytelling street photography, which started to gain a lot of attention and following on social media. The motives of her small Mediterranean hometown and its way of living attracted people from all around the world. On less busy days, she would take the bus to Split to capture a more crowded scenery, historical monuments and sandy beaches. Her approach to capturing moments and emotions in complete strangers sparked interest in a wedding photography studio in Split where she quickly became the main photographer for weddings in Croatia.
The feedback was something that she couldn’t even dream of. People were very satisfied with the photos but even more with her approach and presence. Wedding days can be really chaotic, so when your photographer is there for you, calms you down and guides you through the day, it leaves a beautiful mark in that couple and their guests. Inquiries started coming, requesting strictly Ivana to come photograph their weddings in Split and all around Croatia. After a series of global events, the circumstances changed for almost everyone on this planet, which lead Ivana to the idea of starting her own business.
We also shouldn’t forget the most important person in this whole story – Mate. Mate was Ivana’s boyfriend and her number one supporter since the beginning. He was also interested photography and videography, but more on the „action“ side of things, using drones and GoPros. They started talking about having a business together in the future, not knowing how soon it would actually be.
Fast forward a couple years later – Ivana and Mate are now married and living their dream as wedding photographers and videographers in Croatia. Both with their unique positions in their successful family business, handling married life and work as a great team.
